The partner to 73966 in its current condition is 73970. This locomotive was converted from JB E6023/73117 which was built in March 1966 at the Vulcan foundry. Converted in 2016, this locomotive became the only “namer” of the Caledonian sleeper 73s on the 24th of May 2024 when in a ceremony at the Bo’ness and Kinneil railway it was given the name W. S. Sellar in memory of founding member of the SRPS. The name had previously been carried by 37175 before its sale from preservation to Colas Rail. Our model depicts 73970 in its current condition as running today with the drop Dellner, 3rd rail equipment removed, the bodyside windows replaced by grilles and nameplates.
